Each installment of Bubbly Brown Sugar is a tasty little morsel just long enough to get you hooked and wanting to turn another page in what feels like a steamy romance novel brought to the TV screen. Much like her character, calling Tamala Baldwin “bubbly” is an understatement. Her energy is infectious and is what truly sells the character and the series.

The two words I can best use to describe Bubbly Brown Sugar are joyous and life-affirming. Baldwin has written a romantic odyssey that is another much welcome rebuttal to the stereotypical and negative images of Black and Brown people in media.

The new web series Bubbly Brown Sugar transcends everything involving, black love, romance, and finding one’s soulmate. The opening of the show, hooked me in immediately. Being able to watch two characters fall in love in their dreams, without knowing who the other is in real life was new for me. I found myself wanting to binge-watch the entire season.
